Seminars in Neurology.

Я желаю доктору Труфанову успехов в его карьере и неврологических стремлениях.

The area of movement disorders is rapidly growing in our understanding of the pathophysiology and treatment of these group of disorders. Genetic factors are now known to play a major role in the diagnosis of dystonia, and neurodegenerative disorders, such as Parkinson Disease. This should lead to targeted treatment, and neuroprotective strategies. My best wishes to the East European Journal of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders for a long and successful publication history.

Dear members of the editorial board, contributors and readers!

I would like to extend my sincere congratulations on publishing the first issue of The East European Journal of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders. As the “silver generation” getting older, it is imperative to spread and increase the knowledge about the Parkinson’s Disease and other neurodegenerative conditions. The peer-reviewed literature remains the most objective way to communicate scientifically-relevant information in the age of evidence-based medicine. Therefore, I am truly encouraged by the fact that you are starting this journal for the Eastern European Community. Your long history of excellence in clinical practice as well as clinical and translational research is the guarantee that your journal will do well and quickly achieve high impact status. I am pleased and honored to be part of this undertaking and looking forward to read and contribute to your publication.

Sincerely,

Stan Fisher, MD, Co-director of Saint Luke’s Marion Bloch Neuroscience Institute, Kansas City, Missouri, USA

I am delighted to see this journal release its first issue. As doctors we cannot improve without sharing what we have learned. We should all aspire to publishing evidence based medicine in peer reviewed journals and not be afraid to publish our failures as well as our successes. Huge health inequalities exist across Europe which need highlighting and addressing. The problems faced by less affluent societies need solutions which are relevant to the resources that their society possesses. Treatment guidelines from the richest nations, often heavily influenced by industry sponsorship, may not be relevant.  This is a huge opportunity to publish epidemiological data, produce guidelines, report original research, case series and even case reports. It is an exciting development for Eastern European Neurology and I look forward to seeing what it has to offer in the years to come.

I wish it every success for the future,
